How do you change the size of a picture on Photoshop CS4?

I just downloaded Photoshop CS4 but I can%26#039;t figure out how to change the size of something! It seems like it should be really simple but I can%26#039;t figure it out. I dont want to change the resolution or the pixels or anything just the actual size. does anyone know how?|||your question is kind of hard to understand. if you don%26#039;t want to change the resolution, then you must want to just zoom in? if that%26#039;s the case, use the zoom tool (Z). my second guess is that you%26#039;re trying to change the canvas size. you can do that by going to Image%26gt; Canvas Size. and just in case, you can go to Image%26gt; Image Size and see if that%26#039;s what your looking for.|||Okay, you have to understand that the pixel dimensions and resolution are all related to the image size. If you upscale the picture, you will be adding pixels OR decreasing the resolution. In general, when you try to do this, you will be decreasing the quality of your image, because you will be decreasing the resolution. This may not be a problem if you want to display an image on your screen, but it becomes a major problem when you want to print something.

Think of it this way: you have a box that%26#039;s 1 inch by 1 inch. Inside this box are 4 rows of 4 dots each. Those dots are all tied to each other and the edges of the box. You CAN make that box bigger, but when you do, you will be spreading all the dots apart more: your RESOLUTION has gone down. The bigger you make the box, the farther apart the dots get and the more white space you have.

You can do a certain amount of upscaling AND changing the number of pixels in the image, but the problem is that Photoshop has to guess at what%26#039;s missing. It has to add more pixels if you want to keep the same resolution and make the picture bigger. Since those pixels are not already there in the image, Photoshop has to calculate what they might be. Sometimes this works and more often it doesn%26#039;t: you still end up with decreased quality in your image.

If you just upscale, those pixels will just spread out (not quite the way I described with the box and dot example鈥攜ou won%26#039;t be getting white space); they get bigger to fill up the larger space, and so the quality goes down. You will start to see what%26#039;s called pixelation.

Anyway, if you want to e-mail me, I%26#039;ll see if I can help figure out a way to do what you want. Check my profile.|||i wish i was as good with computers like you so i could use photoshop :( oh well at least you seem to have spent your money well. the best solution is to ctrl a and then drage edge of emage.

Would someone help me change the size of a picture in my digital camera?

I have a Nikon Coolpix S210. I am attempting to e-mail pictures from the camera, but they keep coming out humongous. I tried downloading to my PC first, but I still got the same result. How do I change the size of my picture from 3500 x 2200 to 500 x 500, or at least so it isn%26#039;t so big that it will barely fit on my computer screen?|||You really don%26#039;t want to do that .. If you ever want to make a print larger that 4x6 inches, you need to use the highest resolution you camera will support.

Then pick out the images you want to email and resize only those to 600 x 400 pixels @ 72 DPI but remember to rename that email file as a different name so you do not overwrite the original I rename my email files by putting an %26quot;i%26quot; in front of the original file name (DRS_1234 becomes iDRS_1234, thus saving the original file and making the new file obviously Internet ready)|||One quick and easy way, but only if you have a PC with Windows XP:

Go to Microsoft%26#039;s site and download and install the Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP Image Resizer. This will actually add the ability to down-size images to about about any size you would want. Once you have it installed, all you have to do is right-click on an image, and the %26quot;Resize Pictures%26quot; option will be there.

A new menu will open and give you 4 choices. You can click on the %26quot;advanced%26quot; menu to set a custom size, although this option does not automatically keep the aspect ratio. There is a check box that allow you to only down-size the image. You will be creating a copy of the image unless you choose to check the %26quot;Resize the original picture%26quot;. (Like the previous poster said, this really is not the best option. Save the originals for printing, and the resized copies for email).

Here is the link to the Image Resizer:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downl鈥?/a>|||The easiest way, if you don%26#039;t have a photo editing program in your computer, is to open it in Paint. Then, go to Image on the toolbar. Chose Resize, then chose 15% for both length and width. That will give you an image that%26#039;s 525 x 330.

Do a Save As, giving your image a new name (eg: DSC1234 becomes DSC1234a) so the original is not erased and can be modified or printed out in the future.

Try different percentages and see what works best for your needs. Be sure you keep the percentage of reduction the same for both aspects or your image will be distorted.

There are free programs out there, but your computer already has Paint.

Hope this helps.

How to change picture size on my TV?

I have this 32%26#039; Apex TV that I have had for a few years and I am so frustrated with this thing. The actual picture that is displayed, seems to be just a little too big for the actual frame. The bottom of the picture seems to be cut off by like an inch.

How to Change Picture Size?

I have a desktop computer that has Windows XP. When I upload pictures to this computrer they stay small in format size (ie. 25 kb per picture or 50 kb per picture or 125 kb, etc.) so this makes it easier to burn alot of pictures to CD. I also have a laptop with Windows Vista, when I upload pictures to this computer they are very large (ie. 1.5 mb or 2.0 mg per picture). How do I keep the pictures small when I upload them from a memory card to Windows Vista? I would prefer NOT to download anything but want a solution as to why pictures are so large on Vista and not on XP.|||The size of a picture file is based on the amount of information it is holding and the type of file not your operating system. A setting on your camera has changed.|||Bmp (bitmap) format takes a lot more space then the JPG format. If those bigger pictures are in bmp format, i will explain you an easy trick to convert them to JPG format, which will make them smaller.
